The lodge is designed in a 1920’s safari style that takes guests back to the safaris old days. Rooms are built with a wall at the back that leads to the bathroom and shower. The roofing is completed with traditional roofing materials like banana fibers to give it a local touch. This offers one of the best lodges in the Kyambura area, and indeed the whole of Queen Elizabeth National Park.

    Accommodation at Mazike Valley Lodge

The lodge has very nice cottages that are spacious, with king or twin beds, elegantly dug-in bathtubs, showers, and flush toilets. Vanities and wash basins with hot water throughout the day can also be enjoyed.

Only eight (8) spacious and tastefully appointed cottages offer unlimited privacy, exclusivity, and a quiet environment. The cottages are spread across the camp, separated in between by a small swimming pool and the main guest area. The cottages have been designed with a shelling at the back that holds the piping frame in place, this leads into your bathroom and toilet.

To keep the hot tropical heat in check during the day, the outer roofing of banana fiber or papyrus reeds does this amazingly. The cottages are built on locally available materials which is part of our conservation strategy. They offer unlimited privacy, exclusivity, and quietude.

Cottages at Mazike Valley Lodge are spread across the lodge with 4 cottages on each side of the guest house. These comprise 3 doubles and 5 twins with the ability to add in an extra bed for guests traveling with children.

The lodge also has a beautiful swimming pool and campfire around where local dancers entertain guests as they relax, after the day’s activities. The restaurant and lounge area open towards a sundowner deck overlooking the park, this is the perfect place to enjoy sunset views with a drink of your choice.

The kitchen features both international and local cuisine and meals are prepared using organic vegetables from the lodge’s garden. From the lodge, you can immerse yourself in wildlife, with game viewing from your private balcony or by going on a bird walk from the lodge down into the valley.

    Accessing the Lodge

The lodge is 370 km from Kampala, the capital city of Uganda and it can be accessed both by air and road. Drive time from Kampala is about 6 hours and a 45 minutes flight from Entebbe airport.

The closest airstrip is Kasese which is only 20 minutes away from the lodge. The lodge can also able to pick up guests from other adjacent airstrips that include Mweya and Kihihi. The location of the lodge is so key to connecting it to other key areas.

    About Queen Elizabeth National Park

Queen Elizabeth National Park which is approximately 1,978 square kilometers (764 sq mi) is one of Uganda’s oldest national parks formed officially, along with Murchison Falls National Park in 1952. It is understandably Uganda’s most popular tourist destination located in the western region of Uganda, spanning the districts of Kasese, Kamwenge, Rubirizi, and Rukungiri.

Visitors to Queen Elizabeth National Park always complement their visit with a gorilla trekking safari in the nearby Bwindi Forest National Park or a chimpanzee trekking expedition in Kibale National Park. Others could opt for a boat cruise on the Victoria Nile to Murchison Falls.
